Improved control over welcome emails for new users

 #Basware Access — June 2026

Feature Overview
Gain better control over your user onboarding by choosing exactly when to send automated welcome emails. We are updating the default behavior for new user creation via the Basware API.

Why it matters
This change ensures that welcome emails are only sent to valid, intended recipients. By moving to an explicit opt-in model, you avoid delivery failures caused by placeholder or test email addresses commonly used during technical integrations or bulk user uploads.

What's New
Previously, the system sent a welcome email by default whenever a new user was created via the API, unless explicitly suppressed. We have simplified this:

  • Explicit control: Welcome emails are no longer sent automatically upon user creation.
  • Opt-in only: You now define per API call whether a welcome email should be sent.
  • Reliability: Invalid or temporary addresses used during testing no longer trigger email delivery attempts.

Who benefits
Administrators and technical teams managing user provisioning through API integrations.
