Release: September 2026
Every German e-invoice gets a validation report, pass or fail, archived as evidence.
Why it matters
Germany requires e-invoices in a format that complies with EN 16931 and German Vat Act §14. All German businesses have had to be able to receive them since 1 January 2025. Sending becomes mandatory in stages from 1 January 2027, and for all businesses from 1 January 2028. Both supplier and buyer must make sure an invoice is valid. A validation report gives you evidence that each invoice was checked.
What’s new
- Each e-invoice is checked: format schema as well as EN 16931 and German Vat Act §14 legal compliance
- Reports are archived in Basware Vault, whether the invoice passes or fails. They can also go to your own archive via API.
- Rejected invoices come back with a clear message in your configured language, with the validation report attached.
Who benefits
Companies that send or receive e-invoices in Germany, and the AR/AP teams who troubleshoot individual invoices.
Where to find it
Reports are available in the Basware Portal and Invoice Lifecycle Monitor. Archived reports are in Basware Vault.
