Your 2025 Innovation Snapshot: Highlights from Basware Bespoke
In November, we broadcast the first episode of the H2 Basware Bespoke series, highlighting our key product innovations from 2025. If you missed it, read on for a quick overview of what was covered, and don’t forget to join us for the second and final episode of the year on December 17, where we’ll share what’s ahead in 2026, including a deeper look at the next wave of AI-powered invoice processing.
Review of Basware Bespoke H2 2025 Episode 1
The 2025 Roadmap: Smarter Invoices from Start to Finish
We opened with a strategic update from Hanno Leino, Director of Product Management, who walked us through the latest innovations powering our Invoice Lifecycle Management (ILM) vision. His session focused on three major developments:
SmartPDF: Now capturing full invoice header and line-level data using AI, enabling higher automation rates and better analytics.
InvoiceAI Bundle: Combining SmartCoding, SmartWorkflow, and the AP Business Agent to bring intelligence to every stage of non-PO invoice processing.
Insights Platform: Offering actionable dashboards and AI-powered analytics to drive continuous improvement in AP operations.
The takeaway? Richer data, faster decisions, and fewer manual touchpoints across the invoice lifecycle.
Compliance as Strategy: From Cost to Strategic Advantage
Next, Sanna Koskinen, Director of Global Compliance, shared highlights from Basware’s new compliance report created in partnership with the Financial Times. Her session reframed compliance as a strategic capability—not just a regulatory necessity.
Key findings included:
- Only one-third of companies currently view compliance as strategic.
- Those that do experience stronger growth, profitability, and efficiency.
- The shift is underway toward centralized, cross-functional ownership models.
- Technology gaps are real, but investment in embedded, scalable compliance tools is rising fast.
Her message was clear: when compliance is integrated into planning, ownership, and systems—it becomes a business enabler, not a blocker.
Guardian for AP: Control at the Frontline
To close the episode, Olav Maas, VP of Product Management, introduced Guardian for AP, Basware’s new safeguard for invoice quality and compliance. The demo showcased how Guardian:
- Automatically filters out non-invoices, duplicates, and non-compliant documents.
- Uses AI to enrich missing data and classify documents instantly.
- Stremlines supplier collaboration through a built-in chat interface and AI assistant.
Guardian sits between your network and AP workflow, offering early control before problems disrupt processing. If compliance and invoice accuracy are priorities, this is a solution to watch closely.
